Special Education – Mild Intervention

If you’re interested in creating environments inclusive for learners of all abilities, Butler’s minor in Special Education–Mild Intervention is for you. You’ll learn how to assess and design programs for students receiving special education in courses and extensive field experiences. This minor is open to anyone interested in learning more about special education and, with some additional coursework and student teaching, is an additional licensure option for elementary majors within the four-year degree program.

  • ED 242 – Foundations of Special Education 
  • ED 243 – Methods & Materials: Strategies for Teaching Students w/ Mild Disabilities 
  • ED 454 – Assistive Technology 
  • ED 479 – Collaboration & Teamwork in Inclusive Educational Settings
    *Students on the pathway to Special Education licensure also take ED 493 and student teach in a special education setting.
