The Art History minor encourages creative and critical thinking through visual analysis. Open to any student whose primary major is not Art, this minor offers 21 credit hours of study focusing on art’s past and present within its various contexts, such as political, sociological, and cultural, as well as the frameworks provided by artistic practice and critical discourse.
Butler’s Art + Design program combines the creative practice of visual arts with the discipline of design. This flexible curriculum prepares students for an adaptable career in an ever-changing work landscape. Coursework includes the study of traditional visual art forms, current design practices, hands-on portfolio development starting with your first year, and a required second major or minor.
