Our Exploratory Engineering major is designed for students who are unsure whether they’d like to study Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering at Butler. As an Exploratory Engineering student, you’ll take the same introductory classes your first two semesters as other Engineering students, all while you participate in assessments to discover your strengths, values, and interests. You’ll determine which Engineering major is right for you at the end of your freshman year after gaining hands-on experience in the program.

About Engineering

Butler’s Engineering program develops versatile problem-solvers ready to lead across industries. As an Engineering student, you’ll benefit from the small class sizes, expert faculty, and experiential learning and research opportunities that define the Butler experience. The program offers three majors—Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering—each with a strong emphasis in digital technology to ensure you’re on the cutting edge of advancements in the field.
