Our program places a focal point on Classical Ballet, providing a platform for an array of performance and choreographic experiences. Beyond ballet, you’ll engage in a comprehensive curriculum that includes Modern, Jazz, Pointe, Choreography, Teaching Analysis, and Music, fostering a well-rounded and versatile skill set essential for success in the dynamic world of dance.

Program Information

Curriculum

Students take studio coursework in Ballet, Modern, and Jazz, with an emphasis on Classical Ballet. Students also take supplementary studio classes in Pointe, Men’s Allegro, Character Dance, World Dance, Pas de Deaux, and Classical Variations. Sample courses in this program include:

An undergraduate degree in Dance sets the stage for a variety of roles post graduation. Butler’s Department of Dance has dance alumni in careers including apprentices, corps de ballet, soloist and principal dancers, artistic directors, school directors, ballet masters/mistresses, executive directors, production managers, rehearsal directors, touring directors, co-artistic directors, and more.

There are many degrees with a focus in dance, so aspiring performers should choose the degree that aligns with their career goal, whether that’s becoming a performer, an instructor, or a leader in the business side of the industry.
