Mauricio has a Ph.D. in management with a specialization in accounting from Purdue University and an MBA from INCAE Business School. He worked as an assistant professor at INCAE Business School in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. At Butler, he teaches managerial accounting, accounting information systems, and accounting data analytics at undergraduate and graduate levels. His empirical research focuses on the impact of accounting information on the valuation of securities in emerging economies. He is also interested in applied analysis in accounting. His research has been published in the Journal of World Business, the Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies, the Journal of Business Research, the Spanish Journal of Accounting and Finance, and Contemporary Accounting and Economics.
