Do you have a passion for understanding the critical role that education plays in a democratic society? Our 19-credit hour Education minor is available to all Butler University students not pursuing a College of Education major. This program provides a general foundation of educational knowledge. Coursework topics include developmental theory and application, multilingual learners, foundations of special education, and more.
Our Diverse Learners minor focuses on equipping pre-service teachers with the specialized knowledge necessary to meet the needs of students in an inclusive classroom. This 18-credit hour minor includes coursework in topics such as educating students with special needs, teaching English learners, special education law, and behavior management. This hour minor is open to all College of Education majors and students majoring in Music Education.
This minor, frequently paired with the Critical Communication and Media Studies major, explores how people devise and use media—whether speeches, social media, or others—to engage their world and to construct identity and community.
