Become a catalyst for innovation.

Butler’s Chemical Engineering program explores the chemical processes behind everyday products like pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, and more. With Butler’s strong Chemistry program and proximity to industry leaders like Eli Lilly and Corteva Agriscience, you’ll gain real-world experience while you explore your passions. The Chemical Engineering program’s liberal arts curriculum provides both the technical and human-centered skills you’ll need to solve complex problems at the intersection of chemistry and engineering.

Learning Outcomes

Our program prepares students for chemical engineering careers across a variety of industries. Students who complete this degree will be able to:

Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments by considering the effect of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.

Integrate the interdisciplinary training from their liberal arts curriculum with STEM skill sets and solutions.

Function positively on teams by creating a collaborative environment, establishing goals, planning tasks, meeting objectives, communicating effectively, and demonstrating leadership ability.

Apply the sciences of chemistry, physics, statistics, and other sciences to the design, analysis, and management of processes while taking consideration of the hazards involved.

Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, which involve global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
