Political Science and Sociology

Study Politics and Society to Shape a Better World

Allowing you to specialize in two related fields, Butler’s combined Political Science and Sociology major draws on the knowledge and opportunities afforded by two academic departments and fields of study. You will gain access to hands-on learning and research in both departments, as well as small class sizes that allow for direct contact with both departments’ faculty.

Courses within Butler’s Political Science program will teach you how to promote the collective good at the local, national, and global level through the study and practice of politics. Courses within Butler’s Sociology program are grounded in three central themes – community, social diversity, and global awareness. When combined, courses from each of these academic disciplines will deepen your understanding of both macro and micro topics happening in the world all around us.
